The East Carolina University celebrates 40 years of research and education in the field of maritime archaeology.
Having build up an impressive program supported by five tenure-track professors in maritime archaeology, two historians on maritime history and several more in associated fields of interest. They coordinate a full-time program to educate archaeologist and support a dozens graduate assistants within the department. They continue to run two field schools each year. Past field schools in Antigua, North Carolina and the Florida Keys. The faculty continues to work in the Pacific, Carribean, North Carolina and broader United States area. Last year, ECU undertook two projects in Saipan and Australia in support of DPAA partnerships.
East Carolina University is curently hiring a research fellow for three years to support research and development of international collaborations and increasing inclusivity and belonging within the field of underwater archaeology.
